Our First Day in the MTC

We arrived at 10:30 a.m. after taking Lia and Eliza to Peggy McClanahan's to spend the day. We were greeted everywhere by organized and kind individuals who directed us through our checking-in procedure. A small army of strapping young elders unloaded our luggage, carried it up to our room in Jacob Hamblin Hall (2M-322), and gave us a small tour. We reported to the MTC store to pick up our training packet, the travel office to pick up our visas and travel plans, the medical office to check on immunizations and then to the neighboring church where all the seniors receive training.
Stan and I were behind another couple waiting in line for training. They asked where we were going....we answered Denmark.  The brother exclaimed that he had served a mission in Denmark.  Stan asked when, and was answered 1962 to 1965.  "Me too!"...Stan said.  Then he leaned out of the line and squinted at Stan.....and said "Stan?"  Stan did the same and said "Delan?"  They had been companions in Denmark nearly 50 years ago!!!
We introduced ourselves...they introduced themselves as Delan and Jerilyn Memmott.  They live in Bountiful....Jerilyn was a schoolmate of Carolyn's - Stan's sister. We loved visiting with all of the other senior couples...who are assigned to various missions all over the world. What a tremendous program this is. After orientation and training, we had an hour and a half with the Petersons from Flagstaff, who instructed us about the SYSAP (Stake Young Single Adult Program). It was inspiring and motivating. Day 1 was great!
