A Caroling.

For Family Home Evening we practiced singing Christmas carols and then we went to Stroget to sing! (A short few blocks away.)  We walked about a third of the way down the famous walking street....found a good corner and began to sing.  We had 12 young missionaries with us, who greatly added to our singing power.

Two missionaries broke away for 5 minutes at a time to hand out Christmas pass along cards with an Internet address to see the Church's video "He is the Gift." (Christmas.mormon.org)

I don't know which was better....watching them sing....watching people watch them sing or watching the missionaries engage people in conversations and share a card with them.

They practiced at the center before venturing out in the cold.

  1. They are so wonderful! I wish I'd had a choir singing backup while I did street proselytizing!

    1. I have handed out cards before on a cold day and had limited success, but those beautiful young people who look so happy and fresh and who sing so beautifully and joyfully really make people want to stop and pay attention. One of the missionaries said they should do that all of the year. I agree.

  2. Hey! I remember that Viking store!

That does sound marvelous! It looked like some of the stores were already closed--or is that metal grate just part of the window décor? Is it still busy once the stores start closing for the evening?

    1. The metal grate is because it was closed for the day/night. This was about 8 p.m. There were still restaurants and cafes and souvenir shops open and quite a few people out. Even when we walk home from the center, there are people going in and out of the street. Yes that is the little Viking Store....did we go in?

  5. Yes...so true. The missionaries loved it so much they want to do it every week til Christmas. They also thought it would be a great thing to do in July....any time of year actually. "I am a Child of God" and other songs. Wouldn't that be great?

  6. So great!!! Music will immediately bring the spirit they want to convey without having to speak a word. It's brilliant.
