Family Ties

Tuesday is our preparation day, so that means serious laundry...among other things.  Our washing machine is on the fritz.  Hopefully we can get it fixed soon.  Although I believe SK may have fixed it.  He is very handy that way.  He has taken the top off and adjusted a few things.  There is a load in now, and if his repairs worked, we'll be in the laundry business again.  If they didn't, we'll be swimming....and not in the lake.

We walked over to the center and back.  While there we did some cleaning.  There are 14 BYU students visiting Copenhagen this summer for 6 weeks on a study program.  They meet in the center every morning for a brief Danish lesson, and they will be with us for Institute.  It will be fun for everyone to have all those new individuals here.

I am working on the lesson for the English Institute class on Thursday.  It is on Moses 6 - 8.  There are so many wonderful concepts and principles in those chapters that it is hard to narrow down.
Don't you just love to put together a lesson?  The study part of it is sooo fun.  Here, the presentation part is as well, because the YSAs are incredibly well-versed in the scriptures and gospel doctrine.

As I have worked on various things through the day, my mind goes back to this past weekend.  Dave shared with us some thoughts from a talk he gave on forgiveness.  It was a powerful talk....with powerful concepts that ring true.

He reminded me so much of my dad, who for me was always a font of wisdom.  It occurred to me today that one wonderful thing about having siblings is that when your parents are gone, you still have them in a sense.  Each of my siblings carries a part of each parent that brings comfort and wisdom to me.

I see it in SK's family too.  His parents live on in the lives of their children.

  1. Those are beautiful thoughts! I was recently looking through some pictures of your dad and when I saw the pictures you posted of Dave and Deb my first thought was how much Dave looked like the pictures of your Dad! Thank you for sharing!

    1. You are right. Wish I had snapped a picture of him in the hotel room when the likeness was so strong.

    1. Laundry mixes with nearly everything I do at home! My mother absolutely loved the job of hanging clothes outside in the sunshine, but no one does that anymore. Nevertheless, I actually enjoy doing the laundry and even ironing...although getting to the ironing is another thing! L&P
