Come, Listen to a Prophet's Voice

We kind of missed most of the morning today as we slept in after our very late night last night.  When we finally got up and going, we left our apartment and walked to the supposedly new site for our center.  This new site is quite a bit closer and would take us perhaps 15 minutes to walk from where we live.

It is actually close to some of the more popular tourist sites.  There are three major museums within 5 minutes of it, and Newhavn, the city hall, the walking street, The Church of our Lady (where Thorvalsen's Christus is) and many other places that we have not as yet uncovered in our walks.

Two things it is lacking are parking and nearby grocery stores.  SK has become a familiar face at the small store next to our current center.  He must go in at least once each time we are there fixing a meal.  It has been sooo convenient!  We need the car on Wednesdays and Thursdays to transport food....that would be an adventure on a bus! So, hopefully we can resolve both counts.

The Thornes (The new office couple), Sister Hamblin, SK and I went to the church close to the center to watch the Saturday morning session of conference at 6 p.m.  We are 8 hours behind Salt Lake City and so conference broadcasts are always delayed.

We were emotional to hear President Monson start his talk out with the Gilbert Temple dedication and the cultural celebration with 12,000 youth participating.  We loved his message about it.  Hearing about it from the Prophet and thinking about all of those kids (and especially Kate, Brooke, Andrew, Lauren and Ally) working so hard to present something spectacular brought longings for home.  It was a singular way to start out conference for us.

We sat in the small chapel of the church with all of the young missionaries from this area, as well as all the seniors from this area, a few members of the Frederiksberg ward and about 10 of our YSAs.  It just doesn't get much better than that.  We sat towards the back and I looked at all the young men in suits, white shirts and ties and the lovely young women beautifully dressed...listening attentively and (many of them) taking notes.  You can't help but love them!

Tomorrow....more of the same.  More wonderful general conference and more time spent in the company of some of the best young people in the world.

More to follow!
Good night.

  1. Conference was WONDERFUL. I even watched the Priesthood session. The young people in the choirs are amazing. Sounds like your new "center" may be somewhat of a challenge - but - you ARE up to it! The Lord will help. L&P
