These Mondays are rolling around at an alarming rate!
The morning was a chance for me to catch up on some paperwork, laundry and some cleaning. I can't tell you why, but it is energizing to get things done that have been hanging over me.
SK, Kate and Derek went on some serious sight-seeing. They went to a cliff southwest of Copenhagen. It is well-know for several reasons....it has an old church which is hundreds of years old and has quite a history. They were fortunate enough to encounter a guide there who knew a great deal about it, and was willing to share some of his knowledge with them for an hour. They were excited about all they learned.
They climbed down to the sea....a little over 100 steps and enjoyed the beauty of the area. They drove to a picturesque little town where SK had once served, and had lunch in a little diner. They were all enthusiastic about their day when I got home from the center. It sounded great.
I went over to the center in the afternoon, and cute Helene came. We talked for a couple of hours. Most of the YSAs are in the middle of exams....they occur throughout May and June, and they are all a little stressed.
I talked with our high counselor, who gave me an assignment for Thursday night's diploma ceremony. YSAs who have completed the course of study will be given the official proof, and then there will be celebrating and dinner at Morten's house. Morten will grill the main dishes, and I will take several salads. I think it is time to try Lia's pasta salad again.
Other than that SK and I were asked to bear our testimonies at the graduation program. So Thursday, instead of the regular meal, I will fix pasta salad, fruit salad, green salad, and broccoli salad (the strange one with bacon, craisins, red onions, sunflower seeds and something else). I have always like that one.
I got home in time to visit with Derek and Kate a little bit before they went to bed. They will arise at 4:30 in the morning and take the early flight out to London, where they will spend the next three days. They will also go to Paris. This is a wonderful trip for them, and I know they will see so many marvelous things. I am excited for them.
They will be back here in a week's time, and have another 6 days to do some more Denmark-sightseeing. Derek is keeping a good journal so they will be able to remember these marvelous days.
I have never been more convinced about the benefits and blessings of keeping a written record of your days. I want to remember these days as long as I possibly can....and the blessings and ease of photos and journaling will be an invaluable aid.
Derek and Kate are taking a LONG vacation - but a good one. Sounds like they all had a marvelous day - while Martha toiled - and did much good. It is a good feeling to get things done that have been in need for a while - and it is always satisfying to me to have a clean home and well manicured yard. It takes a lot of work - but work never hurt any of us - especially the Lord's work. Take care of yourselves. L&P
