We started out in Tivoli, where he and Rori went on a ride, which everyone says is hair-raising. Tivoli's site has this to say about it:
Vertigo offers a head-spinning ride in one of two airplanes that reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and a g-force of 5.2. The ride opened in 2009 and has become one of Tivoli’s most popular attractions.
He and Rori got off, and he was sick. He sat down and rested and then invited Carolyn, Rori and me to head off down Stroget - without him. He was done for the day!!!!! So he walked home, and we carried on without him. And actually, while I wouldn't wish motion sickness on anyone, we were mostly unfettered on our way down Stroeget. I say unfettered, because normally, he would be shepherding us along....hurrying us in and out of stores. We meandered down the shopping street, checking out all the souvenir shops.
Rori loved it. She and Carolyn have done a lot of sight-seeing all week with SK as the tour guide. They have seen and done a lot, but today she was ready to kick back and just stroll and shop for people she loves back home. I know she enjoyed it. They both loved Tiger.....a great little dollar store that has all kinds of fun stuff in it.
Of course, being on that famous street, we had to stop in at one of its most famous destinations - La Glace. The much renowned cake eatery has some of the best desserts I have ever eaten.....it often makes special-occasion cakes for the royal family. Someone said, "Copenhagen's oldest konditori (pastry shop) has been compromising waistlines since 1870. ' I can tell you that he is absolutely correct.
After some more wandering and some more shopping, I left them at the Round Tower where they climbed to the top and spent nearly an hour enjoying the 360 degree view of the city. I went to the center to meet a young woman who had left something there last night.
SK picked me up, we did some grocery shopping and then went to get Carolyn and Rori. They had found some great little souvenirs and were very pleased with the day.
We drove to the harbor where the Kristina statue stands, pondered the many pioneers who left these shores well over 100 years ago, and then came home for dinner and Nines.
It was a full day, and what happened this morning seems like a week ago. It is fun to pack so much into one day.
Packed fun! A good way to put it. Glad you had a good time - and didn't get sick. L&P
ReplyDeleteI am glad I didn't get sick too! Of course, I didn't go on the ride, and that may have had something to do with it. :-) I am too much of a coward to try it out. L&P
