"I'm Melting, I'm Melting!" - Wicked Witch of the West

I am still in quest of the perfect haircut.  I discarded the temptation to go back to Lone today, much as I have loved our association.  She is fun to talk to, and she is very nice.  But I didn't love the last haircut, and the lady I saw today was less than half the amount of money.  And here is an interesting bit of trivia....there is no tipping in Denmark, except by some foreigners.  No tipping in restaurants, hair salons, taxi cab drivers, etc.

I walked across town (nearly two miles) to get there, and walked back.  I love walking around here, but even in the morning, it was getting a little too warm for me.  By the time I got home, I was sooo sooo hot!  It got up to 86 degrees today and about 60 % humidity.  It took me an hour in front of the fan to begin to feel cool again.  Part of the problem is that our apartment gets very warm and there is no way to cool it but to open the windows, and oddly enough (and it IS very odd) there was absolutely no wind today....nada.  So I have felt hot and sticky all day.

And by the way, it was a lousy haircut.  Not my day.  I just hope that two months will help it somewhat.  I don't want to get off the plane and have everyone say, "What happened to HER?"

The happy news of the day is one of our YSAs, a great young man, got married.  He actually got married a week ago in the Stockholm Sweden Temple.  They were back in town today for an open house.  It took us about 40 minutes to get there....where we visited with several of our YSAs....they are such fun!

Most of them were in very casual clothes because the high councilor in charge of the YSA program was hosting a swimming party at his home for all YSAs.  I don't know how many ended up going, but I imagine there were quite a few.  In case you were wondering, no....we didn't go.  As missionaries, we obviously don't go swimming, and as missionaries....in missionary attire....there was no way today that I would want to sit outside by the pool!

We were in missionary attire at the wedding open house....which was outside....a barbecue.  It was excellent.  I loved being with everyone.  But I melted.

It has been a warm day.  The sun is mostly set, and I hear a lot of people out on the lake path.  I think there are parties and get-togethers and general happiness that summer is indeed here.

Meanwhile, the fan is on high, the windows are open, I am wearing the portable fan that Lia sent (around my neck!) and I am sitting here wondering if I will make it through this heat wave.  The temperatures will be in the upper sixties by Wednesday.

That is an exceptional length of time for a heat wave....short.

Arizona could take a lesson here.

  1. Wow! 86 degrees is HOT - even here - and especially with the humidity being so high. The two mile walk to get the haircut probably did you in - and your hair was probably so wet - she couldn't cut it nicely. Oh well - REMEMBER>>>>The difference between a bad hair cut and a good hair cut is a couple of weeks.
Sounds like an enjoyable - dripping - time with your young people. It is so good when they stay on the right path. Hang in there - literally! L&P
