I think if I were going to come back to Denmark, I would choose late April or early May. Of course that is judging from one Spring we have spent here. It was beautiful here today. The trees are getting a thicker coating of green....beautiful light sun-dappled green that will eventually mature into the rich forest-green leaves of summer. There are still many trees out in full bloom and they are gorgeous. The temperature has varied, being warm enough to walk around without a coat to what it is tonight...chilly.
Our Institute night at the center proved to be a good one. We had 38 there and enrolled in class, plus 6 young missionaries who had meetings with committees. So with the adults who were there, we nearly had 50 for dinner, and fortunately, what we fixed was enough!
They began arriving early....some up to a couple of hours early. Often they come from work or school and can sit around on the couches doing homework or just chilling out. There is one young woman who works at a grocery store just down the street who often comes early, bringing her late lunch with her. She can sit down and read while she eats and then she relaxes until class starts.
Most usually come into the kitchen for a little while and that is always fun....There is great visiting there to be had! Tonight our food committee chairman came in a couple of hours early and chopped vegetables and fruits until time for class....what a bonus that was. She was a great help, and she usually will do some clearing up after the meal is over.
You would be amazed at how much noise happy young adults make! Our center is spacious, but 48 people even in a decent-sized room can create a near roar. Just when you begin to think it is as loud as it is going to get....CRUD begins. That went on for some time, with a lot of people choosing to sit and visit instead.
Several of them cleaned up the kitchen and started the dishwasher and that is a beautiful thing! SK and I will go to the center early for the activity tomorrow night....we will need to empty the dishwasher and reload it and restart it. There is also some general cleaning that needs to be done.
I had a marvelous visit with a young woman who served on Temple Square a couple of years ago. She speaks English almost flawlessly. Once in awhile if you listen closely, you might think there is a trace of an accent. She is so cute, and so bright and so spiritually strong. She does everything well, and nearly always has a radiant smile.
At various times this evening, we had discussions with several of the young adults. Can I just tell you that that is by far and away the very best of any evening....time spent one on one.
The Lord provides. 50 prepared for - about 50 come & eat - +enough for all.
ReplyDeleteThe help you get is greatly appreciated - but I think you enjoy the visiting most of all - and that is what will help these young people to stay strong. They will desire to follow your examples. L&P
I do enjoy the help most...they are great young people!
