However, we don't have a car today. So we did what any red-blooded Dane would do. We plotted our course on the busline map. It was fairly simple. We took two different buses and then walked a little ways and we were there!....about a 45 minute trip. We purchased 12 boxes...the limit, a few other items on sale and returned home.
We have our bus passes which cost a couple hundred dollars for three months. That means you have unlimited rides on buses and trains. So technically, the trip didn't cost us anything. (We actually compute how much it costs us to drive the car anywhere and it isn't cheap.)
With what we bought on sale, we saved around 70 kr, which comes to a grand savings of fourteen dollars or so. Don't laugh. We are trying to stay within the budget at the center. They discourage us from using our own money for center meals, but it isn't so easy. If we had driven the car, that would have probably cost us a few dollars in gas.
SK went with the young elders this afternoon. They were asked by an investigator to help with some remodeling. The spent a couple of hours or more there working hard to help her get her kitchen updated. I think it will take far more work than they could give today, but what they did was very good.
These are our APs, and they are not afraid of work! |
I have been studying for the great and wonderful Danish course test next week. I have stayed because the school receives funding by testing to see if people are learning. If I can show that I have learned enough in the past several months, they will receive funding for my efforts. I would feel terribly ungrateful to not at least stay long enough to make it worthwhile for the school.
I will also give the FHE lesson on Monday so I am working on that. And no, I am not going to give it in Danish!....all these great young people speak better English than I do.
In the evening SK and I went out again. When we first left in the morning, the sky was an Arizona sky.....beautiful blue and cloudless and the temperature was just right for a very light jacket. But this evening, dramatic clouds had blown in from the sea, the wind was whipping peoples' hair and clothing, and the temperature was chilly enough to wear my winter coat. I love it.
Tomorrow....Fast Sunday. What a beautiful opportunity to get closer to the Lord. I always enjoy the meetings in our little branch and the dear members.
As I type, I am listening to some of the Stewart Brothers' music. They are amazing musicians and have blessed the lives of so many people with their talents....including some of my children and grandchildren, who sing in their choirs. I have been profoundly moved and blessed as an audience member listening to their inspiring music.
With the beauties of nature I have seen this week and the music that feeds my soul....I am grateful for this incredible world. Now....if I could open our front door and see one (or 13) of my grandchildren standing there...
Yea for grandchildren. Pix, Skype, etc will have to do for now. Also Yea for beautiful trees, parks, lakes, etc. - also for sales (couldn't each of you get 12?).
ReplyDeleteAnd YEA for Sabbath Days - especially fast Sunday. L&P

Wouldn't you like to see one of 14? I would!
ReplyDeleteAny and all of 14....and their mothers and fathers with them! I would think I was in heaven.
DeleteOr one of your children? :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that means you will come to see us... I probably would be in tears to see you standing at the front door!
