Looking toward the Future

SK thinks we are in a "cease-fire" mode this evening, since there only sporadic outbursts of fireworks.  There are long stretches of relative silence and then a several minutes of bombs bursting in mid-air.  I can't even describe the noise that accompanies all these fireworks.

But last night was really fun.  I loved having those young missionaries over to share the evening with us.  They were in utter awe of the view from the roof and the sounds and the sights....they have probably not seen that side of Copenhagen the whole time they have been here.

SK and I have kind of dragged through the day.  I hit the pillow early early this morning at around 4, and several hours later SK talked with all of our kids in Arizona....even Lia and Peter, as they brought the new year in with squeals of delight....they were outside watching it snow!  He called to me to come and join him, and he said I answered, but to tell you the truth, I think I must of been totally dead to the world.  I was exhausted!....and am feeling only slightly less so now.  Hence, I am posting early and will be off to bed.  I sure would have enjoyed watching as everyone welcomed in 2015.

We have been through some of the most enjoyable and traditional of Danish celebrating and holidays, and we have had a wonderful wonderful time.  Even as we are in the middle of incredible times and occasions, we feel the tugs on our heartstrings as we think about how painful it will be to leave.

It is interesting though, how during all of this amazing celebrating, we find our thoughts returning more and more to our families in Arizona and Utah.  SK has been more emotional and I have been more nostalgic.  We think about them and wonder how they are doing, and long to spend some time with them.  We look with anticipation toward that day we will be with them again.

This day January 1, 2015 has been a day of introspection and thinking about the future.  Don't you love days like that?  Time to put Christmas away and look towards the coming year.  Time to think about what we can accomplish here in the next 8 months and how we can help those around us to find faith and hope in the Savior.

What a great and blessed task ahead of us!

  1. Please TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! Tired? Go to bed. Don't want to have you sick. So glad you could share with the Elders - and that one of you could be with your families on NY eve. We didn't have snow - but rain all day yesterday - and COLD! It will get into the high 40's today. So much for "global warming"! Good day to be canning chicken, etc. I should be taking down Christmas things - but when I have empty bottles - and things are on sale - the "things" adorning the home can wait.
    Do take care! L&P

    1. Wow! We are the same temperature as Gilbert! Canning chicken sounds like a terrific thing to do for the new year. Hope you get all done that you want to. Do you ever sit down, put your feet up and sip hot chocolate? You are definitely one of those marvelous individuals who would have made it across the plains with a handcart! L&P
