Sanctuary

We had a sweet afternoon and evening in the temple today, culminating in a session with one of our YSAs going through for the first time before she leaves on her mission.  Her name is Lea and we just love her....we have a daughter Lia and so we adopted Lea right away.  She will be entering the MTC on the 12th of January, and we will miss her terribly.  She has brought an enthusiasm and joy to the center that is unique to her.  It was sweet to be with her tonight in the temple for that important event in her life.

In that peaceful place it is wonderful to forget about what is going on in the world, and just relax and enjoy the beauty, serenity and spirit there.  Usually I spend time serving as a worker and other times as an "attender" - doing the work for someone who is dead.  So it is not just about stepping out of the world and its problems for a time, but about serving people as well.  It is with a good sense of accomplishment that most people leave the temple.

We took the bus both ways and I have not as yet lost my fascination with bus rides.  It is always an adventure.  I never tire of looking at the passing shops along one of my favorite Frederiksberg streets. I see individuals get on and off at the different stops and wonder what their lives are like, what they are going home to, or where they are going at 9:30 in the evening.

I still take delight when people address me in Danish.  Sometimes I smile and give a brief answer in Danish....other times I look at SK to intervene and either translate or answer.

It was warm today.....in the 40s but the wind is fierce and makes you feel much colder.  When it is cold and rainy and especially windy, you might as well face it....it will be a bad hair day.

But that was the only bad thing about today!

  1. It's always a wonderful day when you can serve others. So glad you could be there for Lea on her special day. Shortly you will be back to shopping, cooking and meals.
    Hope you are prepared. L&P
