High on the Mountain Top....Kind of....

It is not quite 11 p.m. and I am nodding off, even before I begin this evening's post.

We were up before 6 so that we could pack up the car, check out of our motel and get ourselves over to the school where Festinord was held to serve breakfast.  We were in bed last night by 1 a.m. but there were YSAs who didn't go to bed at all, and there were YSAs who got in sometime between 2 and 4.  I am unsure how they manage to go through a whole week on so little sleep.

Many have assured me that as soon as they get home from Festinord (based on the many past attendees who have been to Festinord numerous times), they will crash for an unspecified amount of time.

There was a very nice variety of food put out for their breakfast....and it was quite tasty.  While there were a certain number who were happy to just eat a bowl of cereal (they were probably Americans!), there were more who just took a slice of bread or a substantial roll.....buttered or cream cI heesed it, and then added vegetables or other nearby foods.

One very good food item is a plain slice or white bread or a roll and a thin slice of chocolate....either light or semi sweet.  I had never tried it before today, and I was properly impressed.  Others spread the roll with cream cheese and strawberry jam.  They also had the option of a having one, two or three of the few hundred hot dogs that had been cooked for a late night (midnight) snack.  Sliced cucumbers is also a popular item to put on a good open-faced sandwich, along with a slice of cheese and butter.

We served breakfast until time to get ourselves over to the devotional.  It was a lovely end to a terrific week.  The entire week was truly a mountaintop experience.

We left Randers to go to Arhus, where the ferry took us across to Sjaelland, our island.  It took about an hour and a half.  Both SK and I felt like we didn't sleep, yet each swears the other was snoring....so I believe we both slept some.  But when we weren't sleeping, we were talking with some of the really great YSAs from the Copenhagen center.....Theresa, Anna, Heidi and Mattias.  It was fun to be able to spend that time with them and kind of get a feel for what they liked about the week, as well as what they didn't.

On our way  to Arhus, we had a little time to burn, so we did some mountain climbing!  Yes....Denmark has a mountain.  We traveled for about 15 minutes outside the city until we came to Himmelbjerget.  It is about 480 feet tall and is a great place to survey the beautiful surrounding countryside.

There were people everywhere there....mostly Danes....but lots of groups and families seeing that unique place.  We hiked up the very short trail to the summit.  It was worth it.  The Danish countryside is amazing.

We got home to Copenhagen in time to do a little shopping for Sunday and run a couple of loads of laundry and then crash.....which is what I am doing now.

Tomorrow will be a great day of course.....it is Sunday!
View from the summit of this great peak.

There was a lovely little tower at the top that takes your vantage point way over 600 feet!
