I Can See Clearly Now.....

Glorious!  This beautiful day streamed through our shiny clean windows starting at 6 p.m.  The man who washed them came at 3.  He worked hard as he climbed a rickety old ladder and stood, swaying slightly as he washed, scrubbed and squeegeed (is that a verb?) each pane.

He is from Romania, and has been here several years with his wife and two children.  He has a college degree, but could find no work in his homeland and so came here.  He has his own business and it sounds like he is happy.  He told us how very beautiful his homeland is....very green and mountainous.  He said it is more beautiful than Denmark.....can you believe any place could be more beautiful?

He said it in all seriousness....and the way he described it made me think it must be truly lovely.

After finishing all the windows, he said with a twinkle in his eyes, "Next time, I'll come to Arizona to do the windows....and I'll give you a good price!"

I told him that is a deal.  If only.  I don't want to be washing windows in Gilbert in August!

This morning we got some more packing done....and I made a couple of hundred cookies and put them in the freezer for missionary apartment inspections.  SK has been making appointments, and it looks like we are going to be very busy with that every day next week.

Late morning, the couple who will be replacing us for the next several months came into town to take care of some things, and dropped by.  We showed them around the apartment, so they would know what to bring with them.  They are coming from another part of the mission, and they are incredible people and incredibly prepared by their background to work with the YSAs.

It makes me happy to know they will be here.  The YSAs will love them....and they (of course!) will love these Copenhagen young adults.  They will also love Copenhagen.

So little by little, we are moving closer to stepping on that plane and putting all of this behind us.

And my heart will be torn in half!
