I am sitting by an open window in the loft, listening to the soft sounds of rain. It has been coming down for several hours. It has been warm for a couple of days, so I have had a lot of windows open. My first clue that it was raining was the beautiful fresh scent wafting through the apartment. Next was the sounds as it came down in torrents.
Outside people huddled under the trees by the lake path. Few people bothered carrying an umbrella today. Some brilliant flashes of lightening punctuated by dramatic rolls of thunder made it complete. I thought about going out for a walk with the Mary Poppins umbrella, but decided better.
It has been an excellent day, because I have gotten a lot done on my list! There is still much to do, so I need to follow my list as closely as possible daily, and then just hope that my list is complete. I am trying to write a personal note to each of the many individuals who have made this mission for us such an incredible experience. That is perhaps 20 from our branch, and 40 to 60 notes to the YSAs whom we have come to love so much.....and then there are several from the temple. I will probably have to rethink that, because I didn't get very many written today.
We had a man here from Romania to give us an estimate on cleaning the windows. We have 16 large window panes (32 if you count the inside) that we can't reach. This man seems very nice and will be back on Friday to take care of them. I am so excited just to have them clean. The view out the loft window is so beautiful....it will be nice to look through clear glass.
We received our last mission newsletter....it has a page of pictures for each departing missionary and it is a little sad to see ours.
We took a break for a couple of hours and walked to a little office supply shop, and then up Stroget. We wanted to get some pictures for Bethany and Matthew, who are embarking on movie-making careers. They wanted 2-second videos that they will plug into a program which will make a little movie. I hope the ones we got will work for them.
The rain has picked up again and sounds louder as it hits the many surfaces outside. It will be so nice to fall asleep to its sounds.
Send some of that rain our way. We had a lot of lightening and thunder a few nights ago - but no rain here. Glad you were able to get so much done while you enjoyed the smell and sounds. Time has slipped by fast - so enjoy what little you have left. L&P
